If by you mean of "... switching set top boxex..." and "Changing boxes..." is receiving a new equipment from DTV, then you can activate the new hd receiver either by logging in to your DTV online account, calling the automated phone system (800) 388-6597, or the phone number 800-531-5000.

Error 775 more prevelent on Genie (HR34 ?) receivers ?

A couple weeks ago I "upgraded" to DirectTV's Genie system (receiver HR34 ? and Satellite receivers).  I am now getting an Error 775. I do NOT get it on the High Def DVR receiver (HR24 ?) that I still have upstairs (on the same Satellite dish).

Does this error happen only on the Genie's ?  if not, does it happen more often with the Genie's ?

thanks..david

Thank You, I was afraid that was the answer I would get, but hoped there was something I could do.  Maddening that the recorded things could not be transferred.  Won best of show at the Iowa State fair for needlework and the recording of that is on the machine, now that will be gone.

There is obviously something wrong with the installation. Since you were recently upgraded is best to call DirecTV and have them come back to fix the installation

There IS a charge for pole mount unless the reason for it is the only way to get LOS

Error 775 happens to all home setup using SWM not only on HR34. Some of causes are the following.

  • loose connection on the "Power Inserter" or on the adapter with label "SWM ODU only"; can either be black or gray in colour, depending on which one was installed, that has a power cord and two coax cables on the other ends
  • faulty SWM adapter

The LED of the power inserter should always be lit solid green. If I am not mistaken, the receiver that gets the error 775 is usually the one directly connected to the power inserter; the other receivers will get error 771.

There should be NO charge to run any cables UNLESS the cables need to go between walls (wall fishing) seems like the tech did not know what he was doing and was trying to get extra money from you for all the extra time he spent there due to his lack of knowledge

Re: Why is episode 6 of the last ship missing from on demand?

So it seems DTV is saying "not our problem." But I will say this: Something seems pretty strange here if DTV has nothing to do with the issue. The Last Ship is not the only program I have noticed this problem happening. Several times I have seen a set of on demand programs with a single episode in the middle of a string of episodes missing. Sure seems like a DTV software glitch to me. Does DTV claim there is no DTV software involved in the uploading of on demand programs?

I emailed TNT yesterday. So far, no answer.

The programs are hosted on a server owned by the channel, the list comes from there, none of the programs are hosted by DirecTV. I doubt anyone at DirecTv even looks at the content of the server.

I doubt that the issue has anything to do with anyone actually looking at anything. In fact, I would be surprised if the whole process isn't controlled by completely automated software. The issue could be something as simple as a display bug in the DTV software: The TNT software uploads the episode, but for some reason the DTV software cannot display it, so it comes out as simply missing.

I would sure feel a lot better about this if the folks at DTV would speak with the folks at TNT, and all parties were in agreement that the fault lies entirely with TNT.

Can't understand why DTV would refuse to contact TNT about this.

Just for grins, I just checked the on demand content for another TNT show I watch: Falling Skies. It has exactly the same issue as The Last Ship: Episodes 4,5, and 7 are available, episode 6 is missing.

If this is a TNT issue, at least they're consistent.

I'll be curious to hear what you response you get back from TNT.

Here is another twist to this issue. Today I checked again for episode 6 using the Search and Browse feature. The episode was still missing from On Demand. But then I tried it a different way: I clicked on the episode of the show that recorded last Sunday and is currently in my playlist. After clicking on the show, a menu appeared on the left-hand side of the screen. One of the options in the menu is Other Showings. I clicked on that. As part of the Other Showings that were listed, a folder of available On Demand episodes was there. I clicked on the folder, and episode 6 of The Last Ship was there! So I tried again using the Search and Browse feature. Episode 6 was again missing. Went back to the Other Showings menu and the episode was there again.

I think this clearly indicates that the problem is with DIRECTV software, and not with TNT. Obviously, TNT has made the episode available. But for some reason (probably a DTV software glitch) the episode is displayed fine when accessed in one way through the DIRECTV system, but not when accessed another way.

What could TNT possibly have done incorrectly that would explain this behavior within the DIRECTV system? Does DIRECTV still maintain this is a TNT problem?

We are putting our RV in a spot for the rest of the season and have a SWM 3 LNB dish with a tripod. how do I set it up? I'll be bringing my receivers to camp with me. Thanks!

For starters you will need a 21v power supply along with a DTV SWM splitter. What are the model of receivers that you are planning to connect to this dish?
